So far in 2022, the Data and Business Intelligence (BI) sector in Malta continues to flourish. The Maltese marketplace continues to have strength around the Microsoft Stack for BI roles, MS SQL for Database Administrator roles and Cloud + Real-time processing experience when it comes to Data Engineering roles.
Naturally, the demand is strongest within the iGaming sector when it comes to Data Engineers, however, telecoms and fintech organisations are always looking for strong Business Intelligence professionals. There is a growing talent pool in this space in Malta and the most desired skillsets are data and business intelligence engineers with experience in building cloud-based systems.
There is a similar level of demand for engineers who have knowledge in AWS and Azure, with Google Cloud Platform and other providers lagging somewhat behind. Data professionals are looking to upgrade their IT skills and are interested in joining organisations where they can learn and work with new technologies, for instance, Snowflake. The data and BI sector is also following the general trend of offering more flexibility and remote working options to secure and retain top IT talent.
