Salary Survey September 2021 for IT, Software Developers and Data Jobs – Malta
Coming out of the initial shock of the Covid-19 pandemic and being the second half of 2021, Malta has shown signs of incredible growth in general but specifically in the IT job market. Like many international markets, there is growth in the IT Jobs market. Now, Malta continues back on the journey it’s has experienced over the last 10+ years of becoming a hub for software developers with many opportunities across the iGaming, eCommerce and Fintech industries. There is, fortunately, increasing economic activity and minor increases in the average salary for software engineers and other areas of business intelligence. Our Salary Guide for Malta covers the base salary for IT Professionals, where there are skills shortages and some of the growth areas in the Malta IT job market. The salary data is focused on annual salary on a net after-tax basis. We the guide, Archer also highlights some of the other compensation and any areas where a salary level has increased.
Fortunately, Malta continues to be a country where Tech businesses and IT Talent are happy to establish themselves creating a cluster of excellent career opportunities for candidates and a talent pool for employers.
Organizations in the hospitality, retail and tourism industry that took the most hit, are now going back to normal operations and have picked up their recruitment plans. In the IT recruitment market, we have seen an aggressive demand from international and local organizations in their recruitment plans as they have shown strong signs of growth.
The most successful companies in terms of IT Recruitment are those organisations that have successfully adjusted to the “new normal,” and are quick in responding to good talent with remote interview processes and remote onboarding practices. A large number of those organizations wanting to have an advantage in recruitment are now considering fully remote options which gives them access to a larger talent pool.
Some candidates and employees are expecting fully remote, or at least some form of “hybrid” work arrangement and are more reluctant to consider organizations that are more traditional in their approach to work. Malta, for another year, has been a great place for attracting IT talent and many organizations are setting up new teams on the island. It appears that some talent will offer some flexibility on their salary range for this remote or hybrid working arrangement.
